Kasvi: Preparing the Parliament for Linux

in Miscellaneous

According to Jyrki J. J. Kasvi's blog, the Finnish Parliament should start preparing for migration to Linux and OpenOffice. Linux is already being used for servers, and the next step would be to adopt the OpenDocument format for governmental communications.

The OpenDocument format has been in the news recently, now that StarOffice 8 is out.

Perhaps we will finally get out of the MS Word lockin and actually have some interoperability for office documents...

Kasvi is almost as biased with Linux as rest of the parliament with stuff that is not-Linux.

Kasvi is concentrating on OpenOffice, instead of making it a project to really see "what is out there.."

Kruiik, what makes you think so?
